Bosch Smart Home Eyes Outdoor Camera Lamp Review

Layout, design and features …

The Bosch Smart Home Eyes already makes a great impression at first glance and looks very well-made. We were only able to remove very minimal adhesive residue from the edges. On the front, you can see the opal front with the permanently installed LED, the motion detector area underneath, then a narrow mesh ring with microphone and speaker, and the 120-degree camera at the very bottom, which you can turn a few degrees to each side, but no tilt is possible. By the way, the Bosch outdoor lamp does not have an RJ45 LAN port.

In the side view you can see very nicely how far the lamp protrudes approximately from the wall. Overall, the Bosch lamp has a depth of about 10cm, with the lamp about 3cm away from the wall.

On the top side, another LED panel has been integrated, which can be controlled separately from the main light.

On the bottom of the Bosch camera you can see the third lighting area, which is switched together with the upper LED lamp. There is also a small reset button (we will show how to operate this on the next page in Practical testing) and, of course, the camera, which is equipped with a small lens hood to protect it from sunlight and rain.

This is what the back of the Bosch Smart Home Eyes looks like, including the. Bosch has also cleverly solved the mounting plate, which is screwed to the wall beforehand and then only fixed with a small screw. There is only no loop to hold the plate in place. The mounting plate with the cable gland can simply be mounted on the house wall and connected, and the lamp then receives the supply voltage via the special plug on the terminal when plugged in. So there is no annoying cable when mounting the lamp. At the back under the lamp is the small cross screw, with which this back plate is secured. The cross screw was secured quite Bosch style, so that it can not fall out – to release the Bosch lamp you simply turn the cross screw loose and then pull the lamp evenly from the retaining plate.

Overall, the Bosch Smart Home Eyes is therefore very neatly finished and easily installed! The Bosch app installation is also relatively easy. We first tested the Bosch Eyes Outdoor camera on a Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone with Android 8, then on a Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone with Android 11, and later on an Apple iPad Air 2 with iOS 12. We show how to install the Bosch Smart Home Eyes in the separate Bosch Smart Home Eyes installation guide.
