Ring Video Doorbell Pro Installation Guide

Add Ring Video Doorbell Pro in the app …

In order to use the app, you must first add the Ring Video Doorbell Pro to the app.

To do this, first select the device type.

Then you could actually photograph a QR code, but it could not be found on our product. In any case, the barcode did not work.

However, it is absolutely no problem to find the appropriate product, in our case Ring Video Doorbell Pro.

Now you give the doorbell a desired name, because as mentioned in the test, you are not limited to just one doorbell or one door chime, but can install several devices, for example, also at the back entrance or at the garden gate.

Now the app guides the user step by step through the installation and even explains the assembly in a short video.

After the first installation, the LED lighting does not yet rotate around the doorbell button …

… so, without further ado, you have to remove the cover frame of the Ring Video Doorbell Pro and briefly press the setup button on the right side.

Now search the Wi-Fi on the smartphone or tablet, for example by pulling down the taskbar and then pressing the Wi-Fi icon for a long time, and connect directly to the Ring Video Doorbell Pro. A password is not required for this.

After that, you have to reconnect to your usual Wi-Fi network to establish an Internet connection, which may take a while, as the Ring Video Doorbell firmware is updated in one go.

Then you have to enter your WLAN password in the Ring app so that the Ring Video Doorbell Pro can also gain access to the WLAN router. If this does not work, you should check your router (e.g. AVM Fritz Box, Linksys router or Netgear router) to see if you have limited the WLAN devices to the existing WLAN devices or if a manual setup via the Mac address is required.

If the WLAN access has worked, the app displays the following message.

Now you can attach the supplied T6 star screw from below to secure the cover.

This is followed by a short review of the Internet speed, because the Ring Video Doorbell Pro needs at least about 1 MBit/s upload speed for video transmission, which of course also has to be achieved via WLAN at the location.

If you want, you can also allow friends or family members to access the Ring Video Doorbell Pro after the test. But beware, they will get access to all events at or in front of the front door.

That’s it for the Ring Video Doorbell Pro app installation. What you can set up with the Ring Video Doorbell, we show in the detailed Ring Doorbell test.

Continue with the Ring Chime installation in the Ring App.
